What are your opinions on Beltran? Im in a head to head league and he is on the free agent list, nobody thinks much of him right now. I dont really have the room right now but I could move some guys probably if he is good enough. I could afford to move another outfielder in a trade im working on couldn't I and just get him after? What would be your basic opinion of him?

How many teams are in this league because Beltran being on the waiver wire is just plain ridiculous? Simply put, grab him before someone else does. In a 5x5 league, he has the potential to help you in the battting average, homers, RBI, runs and steals categories. He is absolutely a fantasy stud.

We have 6 teams in the league, just a group of friends. So we all have very talented teams and the baseball IQ is pretty low in 3 of the 6. This is my first year doing this but my team is 3rd place right now. I have a knack for sports and i just go by the stats. I have a inherent feeling for fantasy i think. I had beltran but is he worth putting in over any of my others?

Well, Beltran is probably pretty close to Giles, Berkman and Wilson in terms of overall potential, but his steals are what makes him a really nice option. He also hits way better in KC than on the road so you might want to consider dropping one of your pitchers (Lidle, Meche or Moss) and then platoon Beltran with one of your other outfielders, only using him for home games.

drop lowe he is never goin to do anywhere near what he did last year and i don't think he will get into double digets in the win column get beltran

I would drop Meche or Lidle for Beltran any day of the week.

drop lidle for him. i dont think cory is exactly going to turn it on and have another 30something scoreless innings this season. it's easier to pull that off when teams think "phew, we survived zito and mulder, let's relax against lidle"

now it's like

"we just beat up a few triple A pitchers, let's stick it to lidle"
