Yes this year sure does prove that rookies can't hit at all, here about 10 games into the MLB season. Keep your rookies, trade for those sophmores if you can. If your opposing teams want to give you Morneau at a huge discount go for it. While I don't think he's going to even hit 30 HR's this year, I think .280 25 HRs in the heart of the Twins line-up is a great guy for your utility role.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike
I dont understand why you would trade someone when their value is low. Its like investing in a stock and losing half of the money you put in and then selling it. Especially when the guy has so much potential like Wright does. He will be a .280 25 15 guy this year and even better stats for the future. He will be great in keeper leagues.
I understand about not trading him low, I don't have another 3rd baseman so I was wondering if I should stick it our or if I should pull the trigger on bringing in new 3rd bagger. If he does this all year his value will be a lot lower than it is now.
Man....am I hurting here. Beltre I was able to keep this year at a $2 price tag. I wasn't expecting last year's numbers from him....rather...something in-between his prior season averages and last season. He'll come around and produce at a better rate.
Wright I got at the draft for $16 and I am committed to keeping him all season long as I view him as a great keeper guy for next season. I am not surprised by his slow start and I expect at some point he'll heat up (and already sorta has a bit).
A. Boone may be a failed experiment, but he only cost me a buck.
Atkins....well....the jury is out on him. No at-bats yet. Hopefully he gets healthy. I like him as a $2 keeper for next season but if he is "pulling me down" in categories later in the season I may have to cut him.
This is a different league I am in. If we cut a player we loose ALL his stats this season and we gain ALL the prior stats of the player we pick up. So....I can play the wait and see approach with guys like Atkins and Boone and hope they pan out enough.
I also have 5 roster moves available to me in that league. At this point it is semi-likely Boone and Atkins will be cut along with Jaret Wright.......but we'll give them all at least a month too 6-weeks into the season to prove their worth to the franchise.
Bottom line guys.....this is still too small a sample size to cut bait on guys.
