I've heard reports that his hook is looking nasty as ever. I haven't actually seen him out there... Anyone can vouch?

Curveball looks good, he's just looking great out there actually. I was really down on him at the beginning of this year(after having him in all my leagues last year and him sucking). It's early, but it's looking like he's living up to the potential we thought he had.

Who's hook is better so far, Myers or Floyd? I've (read) wonders about Floyd's curve... If Myers' is better, I might have a fourth staff ace (after Pedro, C-Zam, and Buehrle) on my hands.

looks like you have quite a problem on your hands ;-7

With Pujols and Helton in the same OBP league, you're probably right. ;-7

Here is an interesting read on Myers courtesy of Fanball.

Seems Myers had problems with former pitching coach Joe Kerrigan, and was about 20 pounds overweight. It looks like he may have turned the corner!

Okay Okay you've talked me into it. I just picked him up. He already burned me last year so you're going to hear about it if he starts stinking it up next week.

Before anyone goes overboard, and in case you missed him on the ww, his next start is against the Braves again. Two starts in less than a week against the same could mean bad things.

I would still add him, I just wouldn't start him this week yet.

So where does everyone see his value? Drop a guy like Vazquez for him? I hate to give up on guys I drafted, because I drafted them for a reason, but I also don't want to miss out on that top FA pickup that comes along every season.

I was slow to grab him because he hurt me last year, but have him on 3 of 5 times this year. I'm still a little low on him and think he'll do a nose dive after a couple months, but still great for the short term IMO.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

I would rank Myers as a top 20 pitcher going forward.

That may seem like a stretch, but this reminds me a lot of Ben Sheets last year. He had a 20/3 K/BB after 3 games, and I was skeptical because of his history. So I traded him and regretted it all year.

Myers is dominating right now. If you're looking for a reason he'll fall off you can find one, but most of the signs point to a breakout season.

And for those of us who had this discussion a week or so ago, and decided to make the move and grab Myers where he was available...so far, so good!

the myers/sheets theory is a fair one. myers first few starts reminds me of the sheets breakout of 04'.. of course they are very different pitchers. sheets is a hard throwing K guy while myers is a nibbler.. either way.. looks like he will be one of the steals of 05' along w/ brian roberts.
