Obviously, I enjoy all bad things that may happen to the Yankees, but it's not just because I'm a Red Sox fan. I've always had an intense dislike for business owners who insist that all their employees be "clean cut" as though this makes a difference in how they perform. To me, it's an abhorrent policy, one that strikes at the heart of personal freedom and is an abuse of power that can only be rationalized by a control freak...which is the definition of Steinbrenner. Can't stand the guy, and that has nothing to do with the baseball team he owns.

But it helps.

dude its called being a professional....

Anyone else find that sentence extremely funny?

Oh nooooo... Look at the facts. No team full of characters with: full beards, goat-ees, 5 'o'clock shadows, 11 o'clock shadows, side burns, shoulder-length hair, dreadlocked hair, corn-rowed hair, and high-lighted hair... could EVER be successful. Right?

Next thing you're going to tell me a team could come back from an 0-3 deficit in a seven game series to WIN it.

Silly.

wtf are you talking about. i never said a baseball team would suffer because they had long hair. Only that it looks bad upon the owner to have a bunch of guys who look like they are all drugged up.

just like a sox fan to just twist around words.

silly.

Relax.... just having a little fun... It's a valid point that while past Sox teams had actually TRIED to emulate the Yankees' tradition of players remaining clean-cut, last year's team actually used the long-hair, scruffy beard thing as a way of setting themselves apart from their longtime rivals.

wow, its actually nice to see a red sox fan respond with something that doesnt have an insult in it. Thank you.

man i never said they couldnt, and its obvious that a team can be successful after the red sox last year. A beard wont affect performance. In SOME eyes its considered laziness and they think it reflects badly on the business. All i am saying.

Its Hard to fault just george when probably 90% of businesses have some sort of policy on cutting hair and employees being clean shaven.

Try going into a decent job interview with a scruffy beard and see what happens.

Anybody else suprised that the Cards have started out so cooly? I was looking for them to come out swinging but they've really not been too impressive. I mean the Sox/Yankees ('stache/ clean) dialogue is interesting but there's little of value there. I did not look for the Yankees to start hot as they are an old team and it usually takes the oldies a while to get going.
