Oppertunity is very hard to predict and it has been proven incorrect that teams with winning records have tons more save oppertunies. They have slightly more but it will equal just a few saves a year (such as one, two or maybe three) and doesnt weigh in nearly as much on a closers value as their skills do.

oh, I didn't make myself clear. I was semi-referring to the fact that lyon actually has a closing opportunity, while other, better pitchers do not. Plus the guys behind him are banged up.

So in this sense, lyon's worth is tied up by the fact that other options aren't much better and so far so good.

I don't buy inot the idea that better teams have more save opps -- I don't think the stats bear that out.
