Looking for minor league help for 2006-07

Postby Surfs up » Sun Apr 17, 2005 12:01 am

I am looking for a couple of names that I can put on a reserve squad and let them sit there all year that could make a big splash next year. Or the year after.
I am looking at
Walter Young 1b Balt.,
Jeff Neimann pitcher TB,
Omar Quintanilla 2b Oak.
Eric Aybar ss Angels,
Aaron Hill ss Tor,
Landon Powell cat Oak.
Scott Baker pit Minn
I like Billy Butler but he will be gone tomorow.
I also have on my reserve squad.
Ian Kinlsar
Curtis Granderson
Dan Johnson

Any one of these guys stand out in your mind or somebody better

Unless a Tampa Bay pitcher is the reincarnation of Cy Young I just can't see much use for them. I'd look at Kendry Morales, although technically he is not in the minors, still having visa problems, Jose Capellan, who was the key part of the Dan Kolb trade for Milwaukee, Nate McClouth for Pittsburgh in the stolen base area, gets on base well, doesn't strike out a lot and runs well. And it is not like there is a lot in centerfield to block him. Brad Eldred, also for the Pirates, a ton of power, a lot of k's, but again, no one really blocking him.

I like Niemann and Erick Aybar the best without question. Also, if people have given up on him, Jason Kubel may be worth the risk.

I forgot to add that I also have Kubel on my minor reserve. I have had my I on Aybar for a while. But with Cabrera signed looks like he will have to move to second base. Who do you guys like beter. Kinslar. Aaron Hill or Eric Aybar? Also Bulter was not taken . I may try to get him this Saturday. The Royals were hoping that Mark Teahan was their third baseman. What does that do to Butler? Or is he better?

Butler likely won't be able to stick at 3rd because his defense there won't allow him to. He will likely end up at 1st.

And I wouldn't consider it a bad thing if Aybar has to move to 2nd rather than short. I like Aybar better than Butler, but mainly because of the position he will likely play in the majors. Also, Aybar is off to a very good start.
