welp, do you roll the dice and gamble that javvy will break out of his slump @ coors? or do you see 10 ER in his last two appearances and think "oh dear lord" when you see him pitching against a good solid offense at a homerun park?
before those 10 ER, vazquez was a stud pitcher, and i think a general rule of thumb in fantasy is to always start your studs. so what do you think?
Vazquez is still a stud pitcher, however, with the way the Rockies have been hitting lately it's hard to start him...add the Coors factor and you have some problems. I got Vaquez on my team as well and am going by the rule, never sit your stud pitcher no matter what the situation is (I learned that starting Hudson against the Yankees twice, and it payed off). I am taking the risk and starting Vazquez at Coors...
he's keeping the walk totals down, which is very encouraging, but giving up a homer per start...so he's got two out of the three most important things going - big K/9IP and low BB
factor in the penalty for pitching at coors, and I'd expect something in the neighborhood of 4ER, 8K
I would bench him. He has been struggling lately, plus the start being at Coors probably equals a shellacking. Unless you are super desperate for a win that you may not even get or for a few K's, don't take the risk.
I have Vazquez, and I'm going to sit him. Watching the way the Mets could actually hit in Colorado this week, I am seriously reminded of the Coors Field effect!
NO .... why would you ever start your pitcher at Coor's .. if you can Set your lineup daily ... Never ... Never ... it's like Russian Roullette ..
Well the gun didn't fire his last two outings there .. it should be ok .. pull the trigger ... I dare ya ..
Ortiz was not playing at Coors last week. He was playing against Colorado in Atlanta. There is a big difference. His last start at home, in a neutral park, Vazquez gave up 4 or 5 earned runs; he has a very good chance of being tatooed at Coors. Even people like Schilling and RJ are not safe to start there; Schilling got bombed at Coors badly early this year.
