Actually, you didn't just MAKE $300. You paid the gov't TOO MUCH out of your pay check.

The thing you are SUPPOSED to do is not pay the gov't at all during the year and use the money to make investments THEN pay them what you owe for the year on the very last day. Easier said than done.

OK, well I'm just going to pretend that I didn't read that and act surprised and happy when I recieve a fat $300 check from the US Government.



And yes, I'm a college student. $300 is a king's ransom.

Funny the way things are.. Here in lil ol' New Zealand we are not required to file a tax return if you are an employee. We can ask the tax department for an assessment and if you owe you gotta pay, if they owe you then you file a return. If you owe and don't ask for an assessment no real worries and no pay.

Then again we get basically no rebates.
