I'm pretty tired of all the petco complaining that the padres are doing.. Giles did hit .287 there last year, is it really that bad? I don't think so. So this guy's in a contract year.. anyone think he can return to hitting 30plus homers while batting .300? I've just traded for him (giving up Konerko) so I'm wondering. ...

i'd be surprised with 30 homers, but 25/100/100/.290/10 is very reasonable.

He can put up 100/100 with a good BA but he won't return to 35+ homer days especially playing in Petco. They say he's on the decline and you can never discount a poor hitters park, so don't be looking for his Pirates numbers but he's still good.

.287 isn't bad at all but it's relative - this guy used to be a .300 minimum slugger every year and he'd approach the top of the list every year for OBP, giving way only to Barry in at least one year.

so are you guys saying I made a mistake by trading for Giles? I gave up konerko who sat on my bench. My outfield now looks like ichiro- rowand- giles

I like Giles over Konerko. I have Giles in my OF. I expect a line like 285-25-100-100-8 with upside for 295-30-105-105-10.

i don't think Giles will hit over 30 homers...but he could ave .290 or so with 25 homers....
I don't think your trade was bad.

I'd say you made a fair trade, you didn't get a steal or anything to that extent though, but a fair trade

interesting it's his Contract year, I always like the kid , I might try & trade for him myself.
Petco still could of been deceiving if players get used to it
