Adam Eaton was just released in my league. I know he has a groin pull, but I also know he is averaging a strike out an inning. Is he an upgrade over Elmer Dessens? Please help as I know very little about Eaton but I like those K totals.

Dessens is normally a pretty good ERA/WHIP pitcher but with Arizona's start, his numbers aren't very good. Still, they're a better team than the Padres, so he'll more than likely get more wins. Eaton will strikeout more but may not necessarily have better ERA or WHIP numbers.
I'd say they're fairly even pitchers with different strengths.

Thanks James, good points. I hate to make lateral moves and that's what this appears to be.

I have Eaton and Beckett both disabled, and my DL spot is already taken by Hoffman (still supposed to be back in July, and I could really use the extra closer). Is Eaton worth holding onto or would you rather have one of these lovely higher ranked waiver wire pickups:
Sidney Ponson
Ben Sheets
Miguel Batista
Brandon Webb
Brad Penny
Brad Radke
Thanks for your advice
