From Rotoworld.com
Braves manager Bobby Cox said he plans to use Eddie Perez primarily when Mike Hampton or Horacio Ramirez is on the mound.
Something for Johnny Estrada owners to think about in daily change leagues. Perez isn't going to exclusively catch either starter -- the Braves want Estrada in the lineup more than 60 percent of the time -- but his one start per week will come when one of the lefties is throwing. Sixty percent just isn't going to cut it, but if he only misses one start a week it isn't the end of the world. Only four catchers last year player over 140 games, but a pseudo-platoon system will affect his value.
Perez batted .229 with 3 HR and 13 RBI in 170 ABs over 74 games. Can the Braves really take that big of dropoff?

I don't read this as Estrada only getting 60% of the starts....only that Perez would only catch Hampton or Ramirez. I don't think Estrada will lose any starts out of this. I think he'll get his 140 starts. At least I hope so....I have him in 3 leagues.

If i read this like it says - that means he's losing 40% of his starts -- i dont know how you can otherwise, that means perez is starting on 2/5 days. I already dropped estrada to grab catchers in my leagues (inge - best one, barrett in two, and liberthal in another

)
how can that mean anything else? Even if the braves dont use a true 5 man rotation, he'll still be losing 30%+ of his starts -- and theres NO WAY he makes 140 then

It says Perez isnt exclusively going to catch those either of two, just that when he does get a start, it will be when Hampton or Ramirez is pitching. BUt not every time they pitch. That's how I read it. So maybe Estrada does 75-80%

Estrada was one of the best hitters in baseball last year with RISP. There's no way the Braves are going to almost cut his playing time in half to let Perez play. I read it as Dmville did. When Estrada needs a break those days will come when Hampton/Ramirez pitch. But not all the time.
