I need to beef up my starting rotation. The following pitches are available.

Kazmir
Bautista (kc)
Blanton

What kind of year do you expect these guys to have?

I would say Bautista is out due to the (KC) factor...and Kazmir will put up good K/9...I would have to go with Kazmir

i would say bautista.. yes kc is a poor offensive team but he doesnt have to face baltimore ny and boston every other start like kaz will have to in his division.

All 3 will be inconsistent so you'll have toplay the matchups. If you do that right, Kazmir will be your best bet.

If you are looking for young SP how about Gavin Floyd. I prefer him to any of the ones that you listed and once the Phillies decide that he's staying with the big club he will be in very high demand.

problem with that is, even IF he stays with the club, he'll be out of the rotation, they announced that yesterday when talking about him. Unless Padilla is still hurt, or someoen else really starts screwing the pooch, then I dont think he'll have much value

Possibly after the all start break...

out of those, I like blanton or Kazmir - if W's are counted take blanton, elses Kaz

I think Kazmir has the highest profit margin here. I think that the other two are shaky, at best. Unless I was in a 14+ team league, I would probably pick up a more sure bet than those two guys. I think Runelvys Hernandez is another pitcher that you could put on this list.

Kazmir's been hyped a bit too much.. give him time. Blanton is ready to contribute now despite not having as high a ceiling as most prospects. And Bautista... well who knows. He could end up having a really good year or he could rever to his pre-2005 ways and walk everybody. His first outing was promising, but it was against the Angels who swing at everything. Vlad led the team in walks last year with 52 and he's never met a pitch he didn't like.

I'd go with bautista because he's facing a much weaker division than blanton or kazmir.
