Durham went down....so i need a 2nd baseman, Hairston Jr. is available on waivers, but since i took Alfonseca off the DL to put Durham on it, I need to pick up a 2b fast. Do I drop alfonseca? I'm trying to work out a trade involving my closers, but that could take days....Who do you think should go?

Drop Foppert. He is unproven, is inconsistent and probably won't be really worth having in a fantasy league until next year when he pulls it all together. He is by far your worst pitcher and is waiver material in most leagues.

I would not drop Alfonseca because I think that he will soon get a shot at being the Cubs closer, since he has played great since coming back from the injury and Borowski has started to fall apart a bit. Even if he does not become the Cubs closer, there is the possibility of Alfonseca being traded to a team needing a closer like St. Louis or Boston. If he gets traded to a contending team, his value skyrockets.

Foppert is basically waiver garbage unless this is a keeper league. Cut him loose.

I'd drop Baez before Alfonseca. He's not a bad closer, but he won't get many save ops on that lousy team.

I'd look around the league and find out who you can drop thats least likely to be picked up, orchestrate a 2 for 1 trade, and try and pick them back up.

Yeah the Indians suck, but even if they only win 70 games, that can still leave Baez w/ at least 25-30, which isn't too shabby. You have to figure they're not gonna be in blowout wins, so he'll have a shot most of the time. There can be good closers on bad teams (Julio, Williams, etc.)
