i am looking for a fa pitcher to replace beckett while he is on the dl. the guys i am considering are:
j. affeldt
s. ponson
m. batista
which do you think is the best. also, are any of them worth dropping chacon for? any additional suggestions are welcome as well. thanks.

Ouch is all I have to say to your choices.
But with regards to Chacon, I'd hang on to him for one more game (at least I am). His next start is at Coors, where it appears he may actually pitch better than away from home. If this theory fails, then I'd dump him.

Either get Ponson or go for a solid middle relief guy like Santana or Dotel if available.

this is a very deep keeper league and santana and dotel were taken in the draft.

i never thought i'd be suggesting it but take batista right now. he's looked excellent in his last couple of starts - low runs, low walks and pretty good k's

The problem with getting Batista for a short term pickup is that he has a 10 game suspension pending and his appeal hearing is today. They probably won't reduce it by too much, so he will likely miss a start or two, with the suspension starting tomorrow.

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised by Affeldt...beware of his potential blister problem though.

Ponson has actually been very solid in all but his first start.

I'd pick-up Sidney.

Yah I'm holding Chacon until after today v. Glavine at Coors.
I wouldn't touch Ponson unless someone from Baltimore is reading something in the papers that we don't get to read about a new pitch or he finally got rid of some nagging injury or mechanics problem. Just look at the teams Ponson has pitched against and then decide whether that will hold up v. the yanks or sox...
What about Affeldt or Sabathia... I like Sabathia's schedule after this week.
