Third Base Question

Postby Jamescloud16 » Mon May 12, 2003 8:49 am

I've got Blalock - who's obviously tearing it up but he doesn't always start against lefties. Randa is my backup. Polanco is available and is listed as 2B/3B which could provide a valuable backup to Castillo if needed and a 1 or 2 a week 3B starter when Blalock doesn't start.

I'm in a Yahoo, 5x5 league. I lose production with Polanco but I gain average and a 2 position backup. Is the loss of production worth it? I mean, we're talking backups here.

My position players are rounded out by Pudge, Huff/Durazo, Castillo, A Gonzalez (Cubs), G. Anderson, Everett, Sheffield, Ibanez/V. Wells

It never hurts to have a backup 2B and 3B. I can think of guys worse than Polanco as a backup.

I wouldn't necessarily bail on Randa unless you really need the 2B/3B versatility of Polonco. I think Randa's going to have a very respectable season. But you do need a backup for Blalock...I have him and have to do a little lineup juggling when Texas faces lefties myownself.

Chris Stynes is a decent backup as well. He's 2B and 3B eligible in yahoo leagues. I'd use him over Polanco.
Can we build it?
