You also have to remember that every year prior to this one Ollie had pitched winter ball, and he did not for the first time this off-season.

Personally, I stayed away from O. Perez because last year was his first year of note and everyone was pouncing on him early in drafts.

Anyway, Oliver Perez will have bad stretches because he is still pretty young. Last year, he had ERA's above 4 in May and September, and an ERA of 3.78 in June. He'll have bad stretches when those walks get to him, but don't assume he's just done for the year. This is a bad stretch for him because he's young, if you feel like benching him for his next start, go for it. Just don't drop him.

O. Perez will contribute heavily in 3 categories (not going to get many wins). His WHIP will be low because while he walks guys, no one can hit him (.207 AVG last year). Keep Oliver, or try and trade for him in leagues with scared owners. Buy low!
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

Pitchers can and do regress, especially when they are young and haven't matered their control yet. His control was better last year, but not good enough to say he wasn't at risk too wildness again.

Exactly my thoughts. The fact that he is slipping into old habits is scary.

I also avoided him in drafts. Don't have him on any teams. His control was bad last year, and it's bad this year. He has to straighten that out or he'll have stretches like this. Once it clicks... if it clicks... he would be one of the best pitchers in the league. Right now he isn't, though. It took RJ until he was 30 years old to have any control whatsoever, and even then he was still a little too wild until his early/mid 30's. Hopefully it doesn't take that long for Ollie, and I doubt it will.

Who accepted that trade? The President of the Casey Blake fan club?

Wow.... you got him that cheap in a winners league? Blake is useless and shouldn't even be owned (since it's a winners league I assume 12 team 5x5), and Rodrigo isn't going to get another 2 wins for over a month probably. Wow. The other guy got hosed.
