I'm not going to say yes he's better, but I don't think its as absurd a question as ya'll think. I think Tavares has a potential to be at least a Pierre, but perhaps even a little more upside? I mean I think Taveras might have more raw talent

This year Pierre is a more mature bat in a more potent lineup, but its not that ridiculous a question guys.

I looked over the Pierre/Tavaras comparison when I read that Houston has a better lineup than Florida.

He's in a better lineup... he is in a hitter's park... he might be faster... and he can hit...

So much wrong with this.. First off Houston's lineup is pathetic, its anemic. Fla's lineup is one of the better top 5's in baseball. Next taveras is batting 8th which is much worse than 1st. Next speed is only half the equation when it comes to stealing in MLB, pierre will steal more bases. Next there is no reason to believe Taveras can hit in the majors yet, once teams find out his weaknesses his avg will plummett. Here is a bit of advice that will help you in FB... 95% of the time rookies are worse than vets, 99% of the time they are worse than top 10 round picks.

In short no way in heck and I think pierre is the most overrated player in baseball.

Do you mean he is the most overrated player in fantasy baseball? That may be the case, but he certainly isn't the most overrated baseball player. A top of the lineup guy who hits .315 with 225 hits and 50 steals is a VERY valuable commodity in baseball. And it isn't too shabby in FBB, despite the anemic production in other categories.

I think this post is merely a gambling prediction. Pierre is a .300+ with great speed. Of course there going to be faster players than him, so. I think pierre is overrated as well, but his numbers don't lie, and I feel a bit confused every time I look at his numbers. Why do I think he's over rated again?

i dont think this is a "who'll get better numbers this year" but a "who is better" question...and if you think of it that way...it's much closer than you think...

pierre did get caught 25 times...

without considering houston lineup vs florida lineup...who is the better player? now, i'd say pierre cuz taveras right now is only going through a hot streak...as all rookies go through them...

but ask me again in 2 years and i might say taveras...

...with pierre scoring more runs in a more potent offense
