Still doesn't take away from his horrible performance after the game should have been over! I'm holding on to Valverde to get the job eventually; I remember when he was their "closer of the future" when Matt Mantei was their closer. Granted, he didn't ptich so well last year, but IMO all it takes is a month of good relief pitching when he comes off the DL, or less, until he becomes the closer...Both Aquino and Lyon do not have the stuff to be closers...
An unanswered question is better than an unquestioned answer
valverde and mantei seem to be made up of sawdust and bubble gum. you don't play your way into a spot then get demoted after a bad outing. lyon won't keep it all year, but it isn't like aquino or valverde are some hard core proven commodities anyway.

Wow, that's pretty cheap. I guess he got a break.
Yeah, but when you are banking a MR/RP quadfecta like I am with 4 bullpen players combined to rack up some cheap points, you are already seen as a shadey bastard by your friends

Lyon isn't that good... if he's closing all year the D'Backs will be in big trouble. I'd be really surprised if Valverde or if the nerve injury isn't too serious - Aquino, don't take over within a month or two.

It's not like they're in substantially less "trouble" with Aquino or Valverde either. Lyon will be fine; we won the WS with B. freaking Kim for crying out loud (granted he had a great regular season, but talk about a guy you don't want to depend on- he is the textbook example).
