I don't see how jones is "risky" at all. He is a lock for 30 hr's and close to 100 rbi every year.

Green surprised me a bit when looking him up -- but stolen bases?

christ, me might get 3 or 4 more than andruw jones, which helps, but for all intents and purposes, is a wash. That advantage can be erased by making a wrong start/sit decision. Little advantages add up, but in a head to head comparison like this, I think it is possible to make too much of it. he hasn't stolen in double digits since 2001 -- people don't steal more as they age.

He does have the advantage of positional felxibility, but that is basically it in addition to th average.

You gotta go jones here IMO.

Their numbers were virtually identical last year. Both should improve in 2005. I guess I'd give a slight edge to Jones since he's batting 4th.

I'm suprised at all the responses for "Jones and it's not even close." I'd take Green. While power numbers should be close, Green will almost certainly hit for better average and get a few more steals. He also qualifies for OF and 1B. Plus, check his lifetime stats in the BOB (994 OPS in 186 at-bats). Wow. He obviously hits great in that park, and now he'll be getting 275 at-bats there.

so green gets 8 and jones gets 6? Is that even a practical difference?

since 2002 green has 19 stolen bases, jones 18.

from 2002, prior, green was the obvious choice. Last year was basically a wash aside from average. but he was no great shakes in 2003.

Andruw jones is younger as well.

The choice is jones, unless you need a ci type.
