Glad I left him on the bench...my FA pickup Kotsay had a 2/5 night :)

Gonna check matchups tonight and bench Kotsay if he's up against someone he struggles against. Otherwise Magglio gets to ride the pine a bit longer.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez was sent back to Detroit from Minnesota on Wednesday due to recurring symptoms from a viral infection that has forced him to miss five games.

Ordonez had missed several games at the end of spring training, but played in the season opener. He left Detroit's game on April 6 after four innings with dizziness before missing the next four in row. Ordonez came back to play against the Twins Tuesday night and went 0-for-4.

"He felt fine after the game yesterday, but this morning he called and said he was sick," Tigers president Dave Dombrowski said.

"He woke up and he was sore so we decided to send him back to Detroit for some more tests," manager Alan Trammell said. "His stomach hurt and we just want to make sure we take care of it."

No idea how much more time he will miss if any.

It looks like he is out 4-6 weeks and NOT going on the DL.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. :-t

I think they said he will go on the 15-day DL. Though they don't know what type of hernia he has yet. Probably will need surgery...thus the 4-6 week recovery.

My question now is... should I keep Ordonez in my DL spot and drop Bobby Crosby? Or drop Maggs? Or keep both (and thereby tying up one of my 3 bench slots)?

I'd keep both personally...I just hope they get around to putting him on the DL tomorrow...I need the darned bench slot for someone who plans on playing this year :-[

I'm sure I heard the Tigers put him on the 15 day DL. He'll probably miss two months. I wonder when it was that he hurt it?

They may have put him on the DL already but Yahoo hasn't updated it to let me put him there yet.

Detroiter here Maggs has a hernia and is being treated by same doctors the Red Wings use. There has been talk on Detroit sports talk radio that there may be more wrong with him but its a privacy thing
