That's true, but I'm a big critic of Eaton. I just want to see him do well and live up to the hype the Padres brass has bestowed upon him. The talent is there, but sometimes... err.. most of the time.. his head is someplace else.

i didn't start eaton on the two teams i have him on today because of coors field, but i was happy with what i saw. at coors u can almost expect a high era and even whip, but what i noticed and was happy about (partly because my league counts it) is his high K/BB and K/9 ratios. (3.50 and 13.50 respectively) those ratios in general are pretty good measures of a pitcher, as more ks means less contact and less walks means less people on base. if he can keep up anything close to those ratios he will put together a very good season.

Eaton has tremendous stuff. His biggest problem remains the big inning, something he has just not been able to avoid.

I did take a flier on Eaton in one of my leagues, based on the new 12 to 6 curve he's added to his arsenal. He now has two legit out pitches, and with his velocity he's got a chance to be outstanding. He's also got a chance to remain a huge enigma, which is what he's been basically his entire career.

I usually will gamble a late round pick on an Eaton type and see what he does for the first month. (Of course, I did not start him tonight at Coors, where I basically never start anyone.) If he puts it together, he's a monster steal. If not, you'll have done a little damage to your ERA, but nothing you can't make up, and you'll at least get a decent months worth of K's.

Yea, I think his performance was exceptional considering that he was pitching in the best hitters ballpark

The last 2 years I've heard the same thing about this guy. Basically overall he's no better than average. There is no doubting his stuff but what's up top is another matter.

I minute he's cruising along with a no hitter and 6 k's in the 5th and the next he's getting lit up.

Yes he has got very good stuff and yes he'll start half his games in a pitchers park but by years end he'll trot out the same average numbers.

4.50 ERA 1.30 WHIP a dozen WINS and a dozen losses.
