3-4 so far tonight...
finally time he lives up to his hype? 24 years old, been in the leauge 3 years now, means ready for breakout season? I remember him being touted pretty highly a few years back he just hasnt been able to breakout at the pro level.
His BA has gone up each year:
63 AB- .271
146 AB- .286
130 AB- .298

also isnt he noted for being a power hitter? yet he is batting leadoff?

No, Sean Burroughs is known for his lack of power. He's a decent sized guy in great shape, but hits for little power. Never has.

He's a good hitter, but definately not a power hitter. The most he's had in his 5 year career (including the minor leagues) is 9. In his 3 MLB seasons (339 games) he has a total of 10 HR. In Petco, I wouldn't count on any power from him. Maybe 5 HR but that's it.

He may be worth a flier in deeper leagues or maybe keepers, but 3B has much better options before you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel with Burroughs, but that's just my $.02.

I don't know that he was ever known as a real power threat, especially at the hot corner.

Ha... so maybe I misheard or change what I heard...

So his downfall fantasy wise is that he doesnt hit for power at the third base postion...

this is a guy who should take steriods if I ever saw one...

In my opinion he has the ability and potential to win a batting title though i would say he is still a year away. He also as you said is in that 'age zone' where players if they are ever going to 'get it' finally get it. As far as the power, yes it seems like he SHOULD have a lot more power but so far has shown NO sign of it in his career. Its only my opinion but i am picking him as my 'breakout player of the year'. Hes NOT going to win the mvp by any stretch of the imagination but i DO see an 'Overbay-esque' type improvement for him this year

just my 2 cents

The Baseball Prospectus word on him:

Burroughs is far too stubborn for his own good -- he's been a top talent his whole life, his dad is a former major-league MVP, and Tony Gwynn became a legend in San Diego using the same shoot-the-ball-to-all-fields approach. Still, the Padres are frustrated with his refusal to alter his swing, and let his hips fire, so he can pull the ball into Petco's massive right-center-field gap for doubles and triples. Without more walks or extra-base hits, Burroughs is only a moderately-useful player, and nowhere near the star many expected.
