Daniel Craig denies next James Bond rumours
Despite the best efforts of The Sun newspaper, actor Daniel Craig says he's not going to be the next James Bond 007, following a flurry of stories today claiming he had won the part.
A spokeswoman for the star of hit gangster movie "Layer Cake" denied the reports but wouldn't comment further - reports ThisIsLondon.
Eon Productions, which makes the Bond movies, also refused to comment.
This means that fellow British actor Clive Owen may still be in the running to take over from Pierce Brosnan. Other names mentioned to play the 007 role have included Eric Bana, Jude Law, Heath Ledger, Ewan McGregor, Dougray Scott and Australian Hugh Jackman.
The next James Bond movie, Casino Royale, is being directed by Martin Campbell, who first took the helm on Goldeneye in 1995. The Sun said today that Craig had been offered a three-film deal by producer Barbara Broccoli.
I think Dougray Scott would be great in the role...he was good in Mission Impossible II....
I don't want to see Hugh Jackman or Jude Law in there though...
Useless Trivia of the day
England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.
Layer Cake is a very cool movie. I guess the story is bunk but he would have made a good Bond. He's a really good actor, just hasn't made a name for himself in the U.S. yet.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I don't like any of these guys except maybe Bana. Law? Ledger?? McGregor??? You have got to be kidding me. Those guys are some of the most effeminate actors out there. They couldn't play this part if they were on steroids. I mean, I didn't like Brosnan, but at least he looked the part.
I like Jackman, but I have a hard time seeing Wolverine as Bond.
I've never seen Scott before, but he looked girly in the same vein as Law et al above.
Owen actually looked mildly decent for the part, but I still couldn't see it. Here's a picture that might actually be what he would look like in the role:
Of course, with that badge on his suit there, he looks more like a disgruntled bell boy than James Bond.
I'd need to see him act. I haven't seen any of his movies, and I haven't seen Sin City yet.
I'm a am member of Jamesbond.com forums and they have yet to say it it sofficial, so I'll take their word. It's like getting baseball info from us. Casino Royale, a book I've read and the first in the James Bond series was a great book. I'm just not sure about it as a movie because they'll have to take the adaptation and really make it work. Let's just say in the book good old JB has some things happen to him you wouldn't wish on your worst enemies, and I dont know how they'll get around the graphic nature of that. I hope they dont cut it because that was an unbelievable climax in the book.
Looking forward to the next James Bond, as the representative biggest bond fan in the world. My fav Bond's:
1. Connery- Bond to a T.
2. Pierce- yep that's right he was great in the world is not enough which was a bit better than the spy who loved e, so I give him the edge.
3.Moore- Not really a fan he was too sexually oriented which Bond is not really in the novels. He was a terrible fighter, though the villians in his movies Jaws, Baron Samedi, Mayday were all excellent.
4.Lazenby- The one movie he did was better than anything timothy dalton has ever done. Lets not forget Dalton was in the freak show that was Flash Gordon, he has a rep for sucking.
5.Dalton- Not the right fit for this character. Had the right idea with less sex more violence and cunning, just not the right guy.
Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.
