How important are SB in a h2h 5x5?

I've heard people saying that SB are not very important in a 5x5... I dont see how this makes much sense... right now, my roster has about 2 guys that get SBs... Beltran and Renteria... I have many 3 stellar 1Bers in Hafner,Sexson and Delgado... I was proposed an offer to deal Delgado for Pierre. I really need the speed, but am I wrong in thinking it is very important in a 5x5 h2h league?

If anything SB's are undervalued. I will say though it' smore important in Roto leagues than H2H, where punting SB is a very viable strategy as week to week steals are very unpredictable....

It is much more important in roto then H2H. Not many guys steal a lot of bases and in roto you can win a category with the right guys. In H2H steals are worth 2 maybe 1 pts. A HR can get you 6pts with the Run and RBI. So Pierre would have to steal 3 bases for every HR Delgado gets. Don't make that trade.

Unlike the last poster I would make that deal. You have power to burn. Not only does Pierre bring you SB he also gets good R and BA. H2H 5x5 the steals cat can be won with just a few. Right now I've been leading the SB with just 2 for the week compared to 0 from the other guy. He may get a few more but you never know. Even if Pierre gets you another SB or 2 each week that may just be enough to win you that cat. Not to mention you have a hole in your OF. I woulda hit accept right away.

For a situation like this, I would agree to do it. I'm in my first year at H2H and every stat is issued points and the team with the most points wins. There are no categories to win. So I guess it would depend on which scoring system you use.

The simple answer is - as important as any other category - and 1 or 2 a week may be enough for a point or half. Not sure Delgado for Pierre is the go though.

on yahoo H2H there is no weighting of statistical catagories. Whoever has the most homeruns gets one point, whoever has the most steals gets one point. If you blow off steals you will have to go 6-3 in the remaining catagories to win the week. Not a good situation to be in each week.

Considering you have a hole in your lineup, I'd make this deal in a second. Hafner isn't that far behind Delgado value-wise anyways.

In yahoo it works like this:

You have five hitting catagories for example:

R,HR, RBI, SB, AVG

Throughout the week you accumulate the stats for each catagory.

Lets say this is the results

Team 1

R= 50, HR= 30, RBI= 50, SB=10, AVG=0.290

Team 2

R= 40, HR = 35, RBI= 60, SB=2, AVG= 0.275

The record for each team would then be

Team 1 (3-2)
Team 2 (2-3)

Each catagory is considered a seperate win or loss, and ties do exist. So you end up having alot of wins and losses over the season. You do not want to punt SB each week because that is automatically 20+ losses on the season.
