It was perfectly acceptable grammar, though it would be easier on the eyes (and ears) if he'd said, "He didn't just lack a curve." That's the intended message.
But, the point is the Cubby clearly said that Vazquez was tipping his pitches, which means it's something he can fix fairly easily.

No it isn't. It's "not only did he not have any curve," so therefore what was said was fine.

Actually, this is how I see it...
CAPS mean emphasis, [square brackets] are assumed words that are left out.
So:
"Javy didn't JUST have no curve today, he [was also tipping his pitches so we knew what was coming]."
So in essense, he had no curve today, but not JUST that alone was not the problem, as he was also tipping his pitches.
