Every year, some poor schmuck drafts Shawn Green and watches him struggle to a disappointing .260, 20, 75 season. This year, no one bit. But now that he's out of LA, maybe this is the year Green gets back to the stud he looked like in Toronto.
What's your take on this guy? Another disappointment or finally some steak to go with the sizzle? The 1B/OF eligibility and the obvious potential both intrigue me, but I'd be very curious to hear cafe opinions on this one.
PS. While we're at it, what about Green's new 'Zona teammate Luis Gonzalez?
It's a small league (8 teams), and everyone is pretty sick of hoping that he will emerge from mediocrity. Is he an upgrade over Jason Bay do you think?
I project Jason Bay at 80 R 30 HR 90 RBI 5 SB 270 Avg. I have Bay at number 83 for my cheat and Green at 66 (but it is also made out for an OPS league - so it might be a little skewed).
But, like I said previously, I am higher on Green than most.

Green has had tremndous years in the past. Breakout? His problems started when he hurt his shoulder a couple of year ago. Getting out of LA and Chavez Ravine can only help, but I would not count on 40 homers either.

I'll be honest - I think at the end of the year, Shawn Green will be a top-25 player. I've been saying it all offseason (well, ever since I got him in my cafe league) and I hope to be able to gloat in a few months.
I snagged him on my team in the 13th round. I definitely think the #'s will improve at the BOB where he seems to enjoy hitting in his career anyway. I'll go with 35 hrs and 95 rbi at least. the real question is will he start running more again?

Boy, I sure hope you're right!!!!! I'd be up for that. He's in my money league as well...
