It wasn't a hit-by-pitch, it was a check swing. Look at this link:

MIAMI -- Arizona first baseman Richie Sexson was placed back on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with an injured left shoulder.
Sexson, who partially dislocated and tore a muscle in the shoulder while checking his swing against the Chicago Cubs on April 28, reaggravated the injury on another check swing against Florida on Saturday -- just his second game since being activated.
"It's definitely the low point in my career, no doubt," Sexson said.
He will be evaluated by a team physician in Phoenix on Monday.
Sexson said he felt the shoulder slide out, then back into place on the check swing -- the same thing that happened when he injured it originally. If surgery is necessary, Sexson said he'd prefer to postpone it until the offseason."
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
