How did I do? Where should I try to improve via free agency?
Overall a pretty good team. You IF is awsome, OF has good mix of speed and power. Maybe upgrade OF, go for a guy who can hit for AVG with power. SP are stellar!!! Baez is so-so but k-Rod is da man.
You have no SP, unless this was a 14 team NL or AL only. Pavano as a number one in a 14 team mixed is sad. Sorry. Hitting looks good though and your RP's are good.
One guy says SP is stellar, another says it stinks. Which is it really?
I think I did OK on SP - there was a big run way too early so I stuck with hitters. I failed to mention that I also have Buehrle, Escobar and Padilla for SP. My bad!
your strongest pitchers are ok (wright, pavano, buehrle) but are all in the AL so I would worry about higher ERA, WHIP. I would deal an infielder for a stronger pitcher, preferably NL team.
Your offense is solid all-around for a 14-team league. They'll need to carry you. Livan is an innings eater, and he's your best starter (most likely) through the long run.
Trade Pavano to an overly excited Yankees fan, come to think of it trade JWright too.
You've got enough decent pitchers that probably three of them will pan out--you just may end up shuffling them around a lot the first few weeks until you figure out who's money. but i imagine that these guys will be somewhat inconsistent all year (good start from buehrle today, though). it'd be nice if you could get at least a second tier guy--a beckett or a harden or a sheets--but you'd have to put together some kind of package, since you don't seem to have any hitters on your bench.
Maybe Pavano, Podilla, and A. Jones for one of those pitchers I mentioned before and some lesser outfielder. You'll have to be creative.
