In 2003, he debuted a new cut fastball which was extremely good. In 2004, however, he lost a few mph on all his pitches. If he can regain that velocity, he should be much better than last year.

I just doubt he'll regain that velocity.

if it were me, I would check with the Jackyl. He is our resident Loiaza expert around here. :-)

I'm in a 12 team league with Jackal and Loaiza is a FA. But I'll bet that he'll be checking the Washington box scores closely. I know I'll be keeping an eye on him too. I seriously doubt that Loiaza can come near his '03 #'s but anything is possible...

The move to the NL will certainly assist him. I'm thinking he'll have a reasonably decent year.
