Brazoban Vs. Miguel Batista

Postby DbacksAllTheWay » Sun Apr 03, 2005 1:11 pm

Both of these closers are decent options, but I only drafted 2 closers in B.J. Ryan and Gagne, so I need an option for the early part of the season. I have put Gagne on the DL so I have a roster spot left, who is the better pickup: Brazoban or Batista? Thanks.

Batista, he'll have his job longer than a couple weeks.

Brazabon will post better #'s for the first few weeks until Gagne comes back. I'd go w/ him instead. Batista is trash IMO.

well if you want better numbers the choice is obvious, but if u want consistent saves and decent to solid numbers you go with batista who should be a least better than average.

Just wondering if you could post why you don't like Batista? As far as I know Gagne inherited the closer roll from being a starter, so why can't Batista do a capable job?

Thanks.

Batista by alot

1. Will have the job longer than the 2 weeks projected for Brazoban
2. Batista can IMO be the Gagne (well maybe not quite as good)of this season and make the transition from starter to closer.

If you have Gagne you need the insurance if not I would go with Batista.

Batista is more Chacon-like than Gagne like. Probably the lowest rated closer right now but he has the job for the time being. Brazoban will have it while Gagne is out and likely does a decent job. Batista is the better longterm pick obviously, but do not be surprised if he ends up be pretty bad and losing his job in a month or so.

could anyone see Batista having a Danny Graves type season? Both of these guys were pretty average as starters and no one really expected much of them as closers. I wouldnt be surprised if it happened.
This field, this game, it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh people will come Ray, people will most definitely come.
