Big trade news!

It's being reported that the Tigers have traded.....Steve Colyer for Matt Ginter. One scrub middle reliever for another. I think both were out of options, and that probably precipitated the trade. Sorry about the title, I just wanted to share my disappointment I felt when Higgy's lame-a55 name wasn't included.

not bad - the Tigers were lookng for long relief since Knotts had such a poor spring Ginter fills this role.

This trade is confirmed. The Tigers just stuck Colyer out on waivers recently and no one bit. If the Mets wanted him then I guess they passed because they currently have a 40-man deadlock so this was more of a trade of convenience for both teams.

Colyer has already passed through to AAA Norfolk.

Ginter is a long reliever the Mets didn't have room for but he's decent and can fill in as a 6th starter when the need arises. This trade won't influence either team dramatically but it's nothing to be dissapointed over.

If the Mets had picked Colyer up off of waivers they would have had to keep him on the 25 man roster. By trading for him they were able to send him to the minors.

Decent trade for both clubs. The Tigers get the long reliever/6th starter they desperately needed and the Mets get a hard throwing lefty who could turn out to be decent.
