Worst picks you have seen in your draft....

Postby smelson » Sat Apr 02, 2005 1:08 pm

What are some of the worst picks you have seen in your draft? In my 10 team 5x5 league, 9 of the 10 were online for the live draft, and the guy who had the third pick was using autodraft.

With the third pick he selected..........Jim Thome!
His 2nd round pick.......Nomar
3rd round....Marcus Giles
4th round......Brad Radke

And so on. Another noteable pick was Xavier Nady in the 9TH ROUND.

I know the guy had the computer draft for him, but I checked out his prerankings and he had the first four guys he took as his top 4 players. I just didn't understand his logic.

Can you guys come up with anything worse?

I agree it's too early to call them bad picks....but I guess at least you can call them RISKY picks. Jim Thome over A-Rod, Vlad, Santana, Abreu, Tejada, etc? He probably coulda got Thome in the 3rd or 4th round.

And then Radke in the 4th....I just don't see Radke as a top 40 player in any league.

But then again, he'll probably prove me wrong and Thome will hit 60 homers with a .300 avg while Radke wins the Cy Young and Nomar and Giles hit over .330 each. It could happen, but I would rather have Vlad or Santana where huge production is a little more of a sure thing.

my personal favorite was watching, in the first round, a player grab Victor Santos

we were curious, and amid the large amount of swearing we found out that victor santos is right next to johann santana in an alphabetical list, he double clicked and all of a sudden, in a live online draft "poof" victor santos is your first round pick, public yahoo league with the commish absent, so we couldnt wind the draft back

poor guy

Worst pick ever was Victor Martinez select first overall in my 16-team league.

2nd worst pick was Mariano Rivera selected in the first round

I'll draft Beltre in the 10-12 range and have taken Giles in the late 3rd.

Call me crazy.
