Thoughts? suggestions? thanks in advance - oh, and im punting saves
don't need to punt saves...
Why don't you try to deal Podsednik/Penny for a quality closer? Somebody who has high K/IP ratio. Find someone who really wants speed. You have decent speed already with Eck, Abreu, and Crisp.
Penny could be good...but only if he stays healthy. That's a big if. To package him with Podsednik might work.
I've never played for Holds, so not sure who has been snapped up already. Good middle-men or setup men I know of, off the top of my head: Tom Gordon, Juan Rincon, Brendan Donnelly, Scot Shields, Akinori Otsuka.
C J. Mauer (Min - C) should be healthy this year.
1B T. Helton (Col - 1B) no brainer
2B J. Kent (LAD - 2B) a bit worried about that park and kent regressing.
3B T. Glaus (Ari - 3B) solid if healthy. uribe can backup but look for someone else with more power in case.
SS D. Eckstein (StL - SS) put uribe here. eckstein nooooooo
OF B. Abreu (Phi - OF) solid, hopefully 40 steals again
OF S. Podsednik (CWS - OF) kinda of weak even though sbs
OF S. Finley (LAA - OF) decent not great
Util J. Morneau (Min - 1B) solid.
BN J. Uribe (CWS - 2B,3B,SS)
BN M. Barrett (ChC - C)
BN C. Crisp (Cle - OF) I like coco much better than podsednik. better numbers everywhere and possibly similar stolen bases.
SP C. Zambrano (ChC - SP) best cubs pitcher regardless hype
SP R. Oswalt (Hou - SP) solid
RP U. Urbina (Det - RP) dont like at all
RP S. Linebrink (SD - RP) neither him
P M. Mulder (StL - SP) solid
P G. Maddux (ChC - SP) above average
P B. Penny (LAD - SP) very good when healthy and not fat and lazy
BN J. Vázquez (Ari - SP) decent
BN L. Hawkins (ChC - RP) could surprise despite all the naysayers
check to see what reliever are available. many undrafted will have opportunities.
some ppl didnt draft batista/aquino/adams etc let me know.
I greatly appreciate your response and input tirk! - I like your assessment, but let me hear your thoughts after i post out some more of my stratedgy. the reason i like Ugy and Linebrink is because both should be solid Holds candidates this year. With percy and Hoffman both should (if they remain as solid as they have been, and ugy should be better now that he isnt closing) then both should pick up about 20 holds each, maybe more. I'm punting saves for this reason, because i knew decent holds people would remain at the end of the draft and used the earlier picks to grab a decent team other than saves.
As far as eckstein - i personally believe he will have a great year now that he is a cardinal. Runs scored should shoot through the roof, but on the other hand, i think your right about kent. I also am a tad worried about him and his production.
Thanks again and good luck this year if you dont check back!

Love Eck as a player, but not a fantasy player. I'd toss Uribe in that lineup - I agree with the majority on Penny, but think that Javy will have himself a good year. He's a man on a mission.
