Utley or Walker?

Postby Doc19 » Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:08 pm

I currently have Chase Utley in a 10-team 5x5 roto league as my starting 2B, but both Todd Walker and Mark Bellhorn are available on WW... I have read recent posts that question whether or not Chase will start / platoon...

Who would you rather have on your team? Should I grab Walker since he will not platoon with anyone??

Thanx

Walker is likely to lose some at bats to Jerry Hairston Jr...plus Dusty Baker is an idiot and generally treats Walker like crap.

I think Utley will lose AB to polanco if David Bell stays reasonably healthy (laughter errupts).

Walker's career ave is .289 and he hits with pop...Utley's upside is higher for power, lower for ave...

This post may not have helped you at all! :~(

Both might lose playing time to other players (Hairston, Polanco). Even with that I think Utley will put together a nice season and out produce Walker. I would definitly take Utley over him. Please help with my post below.

Stick with Utley.

You can go round and round in circles speculating what might happen ... will Utley lose at bats etc. But the more important question is do you think Utley will play well enough to hold down his position and NOT lose at bats.

If he does well, he will play. If he doesn't and therefore loses at bats then you would probably be thinking about dropping him anyway.

So looking at it now, go with the player with the biggest upside, Utley, whether he lives up to it or whether the others out perform him, only time will tell, but at this point Utley is the best bet.

I realise this is probably yet another not helpful post!

Depending on the league Utley may also have 1B eligibility. He played 10 games there last year I believe. And maybe he actually plays over there if Thome has an injury.

I like Walker, but would go w Utley.
