How to straighten out this pitching mess?

Postby TDS-MN » Thu Mar 31, 2005 5:37 pm

Hey All,

We just completed the auto draft in one of the yahoo leagues I'm playing in this year.

I think I have some problems on the pitching side of things. Here's who I got in the draft:

J. Peavy
B. Sheets
B. Madritsch
B. Radke
K-Rod
J. Nathan
J. Mesa
J. Affeldt

We have a minimum innings requirement of 25 per week. I'm sort of thinking that I'm going to have to move either Mesa of Affeldt for another starter. Maybe package with a batter, depending on who I choose to work with and their needs.

Am I heading in the right direction , you think? Would be interested to hear what you'd do in this situation. Thanks!! (besides pre-rank more, better pitchers, heh heh) :-o

Edit to add cats. (W,L,CG,SHO,SV,H,ER,K,ERA,WHIP)

You have two starters alone that will get you 14 innings total at worst, with only 1 start per week. You are fine

You could go one of several ways. Either trade Mesa straight up for a mid-level starter or offer Mesa in a package with Radke for an upper-tier starter. The problem is that the thought of Mesa will send most your fellow owners running for the hills.

If you are willing to part with K-Rod or Nathan, then you will get value back and you can always pluck a closer off the wire later.

Added categories. Roster size depends on how many bats I want to sacrifice to add more pitching spots. Full rosters are in my profile, didn't think to add all that, since it wasn't really a "rate-my-team' post. Sorry. And then you'd see how bad the rest of my teamis, too, heh heh! (I didn't do well pre-ranking I guess)

I guess I'm worried because 25/4 leaves me with 6+ innings. I guess if the RP's are getting work it SHOULD work. i wish I shared your confidence that I'll be fine. Pretty sure if you don't meet the minimum innings, NONE of the pitching stats are counted for the week in Yahoo.

Heh, that's what I thought, too. If I can find someone with weaker RP's maybe I can put a package that he can be secondary to. Our wire looks pretty weak already, though. 8 team with usually 3 RP's per team uses 'em up fast. maybe I hope that someone goes DL, and I can capitilize on their need?

Thanks for your comments everyone!

I thought your pitching looked nice...and as long as everyone is getting regular work, I don't see you missing 25 innings.
