He is that infielder that has power, but K's a ton and has bounced around a lot. The guy had 188 K's one year and if i remember correctly didn't play or something so he didn't break the K record. He has been on the Brewers, Cubs, Braves, Pirates, Indians, Rockies, and the Dodgers ... all in the last 8 years.
And no don't take him, he doesn't have a job and is just a utility infielder guy now.

Indians agreed to terms with infielder Jose Hernandez, who had been with the Dodgers, on a one-year, $1.8 million contract.
According to owner Larry Dolan, the Hernandez signing won't have any impact on negotiations with Ronnie Belliard. However, the team could let Hernandez and Brandon Phillips compete for a starting job if Belliard's money is put into acquiring a starting pitcher. It's more likely that Hernandez will be a backup infielder and a first baseman against left-handed pitchers.
thats from december, evidently theyre not up to date on him either
Im guessing a guy this far off the radar isnt worth a roster spot in anything but the absolute deepest leagues
I don't know why the Dodgers let him go to sign Valentin. Hernandez can hit 25 HR if playing everyday and hit 270, and hes better with the glove then Valentin.
First off, his name is Jose "Freakin'" Hernandez...
I started calling him that about, oh, 8 years ago when I played an ESPN fantasy baseball game. He was great because he would hit HR's and score me tons of points for a very low, low, warehouse outlet price.
But yeah, he's weird. He either K's or hits a home run...and when he does hit a home run, he normally hits two. He is just one of those weird sorts that has a lot of "pop" to his swing and can wreck a ball if he hits it right. But, he K's so much that his power is denounced. I remember a few years ago when the Brewers sat him down for the last few games of the year so he wouldn't set the single-season K record.

I remember that, too. They said that they didn't want him carrying that around on his phyche...
