I had Drew and wanted someone who was a little safer bet, We use OBP along with BA and other things, so I wanted someone with a solid OBP in return for losing Drew.
I offered Drew, J. Wright and Percy for Edmonds, and Chris Carpenter (I think hes pretty valuable, we use k/bb).
This deal can bite me in the ass, but I think Edmonds is a safer bet than Drew. What do you guys think and would you take Percy out of the deal or is he needed to make it even?
Edmonds is a huge upgrade over Drew, and Carpenter is an upgrade over Wright. Losing Percy is doable since you're improving so much with the other 2 guys. I doubt the other guys accepts, but you should be happy if he does.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
I have Edmonds on both my teams, as I think that he's VERY likely to do about the same as the last couple of years...if he doesn't knock himself out starring in too many webgems. I am inclined to think that you will be refused dealwise as I don't see Percy exciting anyone enough to make him deal Edmonds and Carpenter.
of course, I HATE admitting that Edmonds is a stud (see avatar...) but, he puts up very close to first round #s w/ the 40 HR...and can be had in the 3rd round. Sheff is the other guy who falls in there but he's got too many ? marks for my taste and is a few years older. I guess that I did have a 'strategy' to 'get' Edmonds, but he WAS the best available player when I grabbed him so...hmmmm...
I expect slight drop in homeruns(4/5 tops), main concern is injuries. We play specific outfield spots in our money league so I jumped on him in third round. Not too many better offensive centerfielders around.
Having said that I would make sure you have capable backup on your roster. I traded D. Lee after draft for C. Patterson so I could have backup. (play Patterson at UT meanwhile)
