David Wright hitting 8th!!!

Postby AI8818 » Tue Mar 29, 2005 7:15 pm

Why so down in the order? I have him on my roster and I was hoping for a 5-6th spot. What happened? And what does this do to his fantasy value!!

Mets third baseman David Wright will likely begin the year hitting in the eighth spot. "Someone has to bat eighth," manager Willie Randolph told MLB.com. "It's not a demotion." Wright took the news well, and the assignment carries with it the burden of needing to look for walks in order to have a pitcher end an inning. "Maybe I won't be able to look for a pitch as much as I did last year," Wright explained. "It will be an adjustment...There are lots of things. I may have to hit more mistakes than I did last year. And I have to be ready for mistakes."

He's just starting the year that way. Take it easy.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
