I'm kinda new to FBB and by reading some of the posts on this forum I'm confused as to what people think the role of a bench player is.
My take is that they are to be used for one of three things:
1) Fill in on days off
2) Stash point for players who you think will have break out years but aren't sure
3) Acquired value picks in a draft to be used to leverage other players in trades
My question is in most posts people are recommending that guys dump their second catcher. Seeing as this is the one position where the most games are lost due to days off I don't see the logic in this.
Am I correct in my assumptions above or am I missing the point on something? FBB veterans please clue me in.
Thanks

Backup catchers tend to be very poor fantasy players, and will actually drag your team down in categories like batting average more than they would help you in any other category. Therefore, just carry the minimum number of catchers and stream players in at other positions. Also, keep in mind that many Yahoo leagues have a maximum number of games played at each position.
