Don't know how many of you guys are boxing fans, but there was a movie at Sundance called Ring of Fire: The Emile Griffith story about a boxer from the 60's who was in a fight in 1962 where he ended up beating a guy so bad he got killed. I read a great review of the movie when it was at Sundance, and apparently at the end of the movie, Griffith meets the son of the guy he killed for the first time. Can you imagine meeting the guy who killed your father?

hehe...didn't think I was ruining it, the review I read talked about that aspect of the film, I'm sure it was very powerful. The reviewer didn't treat it like it was a spoiler or anything. Does anyone have any knowledge about this fight though? It was Benny Paret vs. Emile Griffith in 1962, and it ended with Paret going into a coma and dying. wow.
It is going to premier on USA network on April 20 than it will come out on DVD.
You didn't really spoil anything because it's a documentary about his life not a movie per say. I'm looking forward to seeing it too.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Indeed it is a documentary...I'm a big fan of boxing movies and documentaries so I was real intrigued when I read about it.
Very cool, I read that USA had bought the rights to the movie at Sundance, but I didn't know they had set a date to air it. How did you first hear about Ring of Fire?
I read about it on IMDB.com and I'm a film festival junkie.
Have you seen Million Dollar Baby? I know it's not fair to call it a boxing movie but that's currently my favorite.

Yeah it's awesome plus anything with Clint in it is cool by default.
