Is it safe to rely on Pierre to start the season?

What is the deal with this guy? Some say day-to-day, other say he could miss time, most say they have no clue. Problem is I have one CBS league where I could pick up Sweeney and drop Holliday IF I can depend on Pierre to start the season, otherwise I need to hang on to Holliday.

Anyone have any ideas?

Juan Pierre looks increasingly doubtful for Opening Day because of his strained right calf muscle.

''Pierre is not going to play for a while,'' manager Jack McKeon said. ''He will not play [today]. He will not play Tuesday. And probably won't play Wednesday. When the trainer tells me that he's running OK or jogging OK, that he's having no problems with his leg, then we'll sit down and think.''
