Another Strong Team?

Postby JDD » Mon Mar 28, 2005 3:55 pm

This is from a twelve team league (all good owners who drafted very well in my opinion). We have Head to Head Fantasy Point scoring with 30 man rosters, starting just one catcher, four OF and two Util Inf. What do you think? At some point in April, I usually waive a bench player for another starting pitcher... I would do it now, but the draft was such that nothing of definite qualtity was left behind. I thought I had decent pitching when I drafted, but now two weeks later, I just don't know.... I will probably drop Dempster before long, and replace him with another starting pitcher who emerges above the rest on the waiver wire.

I think your offense will place you in the top 3 in most of the stat catagories...god mix of all teh stats. I think your staff could us a solid number 3 guy after oswalt and pedro who are both going to have very good years. Not sold on d-train and glavine is getting very old as we saw in the second half of last year over 5 era...ouch. You have 2 closers with the job and 2 more fighting for one so i think you are all set there i would say just try and get a good nnumber 3 pitcher

Yeah.... I have a bad feeling I will be one starter short going into some match-ups.

With any luck, some kid on the waiver wire will bail me out.

your team is the best 12 teamer i think i've seen so far. very solid, with the only hole being at your #3 SP. I would dangle jason bay, jeremy reed, and larry walker (assuming this is not a keeper league) and see if you can get a bite from a guy who needs either SBs (reed) or power (bay and walker) to get another starter

great job! ;-D

Thanks for the reply, I put a call out for an arm on our league's message board... no bites so far.

If Walker is healthy, I really don't need Bay. If Rowand and Reed get off to good starts, maybe I can trade Rowand for an arm.

Wish me luck.

These head to head leagues (with Fantasy Point scoring, not roto) are my favorite way to play.... and you need four good starting pitchers to win.

Hopefully either Willis or Arroyo will emerge, and my horses will stay healthy.

great team

Postby myteamsucks » Wed Mar 30, 2005 5:29 pm

thanks for replying to my post.

first off, i don't know how you got a-rod AND soriano AND pedro AND cabrera. then you add on oswalt.

i agree with you, drop dempster, he won't be of any value unless he closes which he isn't doing.

great infield, very good OF. matsui is very underrated. walker, if he pans out, could be top 50. might (gasp) lead the league in run with the way he (used to) hit. rowand is very nice.

might need another closer, but three is good (assuming yo uput in wickman in ur lineup)

i think they player that could carry u is pedro feliz. with bonds out, he gets his chance to shine.
