Manny or Tejada? Who's better in 5x5 league?

Postby Titanic Grizzlie » Mon Mar 28, 2005 3:12 am

I ran a bunch of searches and really didn't find much on this subject. What is the consensus on these two in a 5x5 league? I'm wondering if there is a consenus out there or is it a spilt decision.

If you're talking the normal categories, I'd say most would take Tejada over Manny. He'll get you just as much or more than Manny in every category, but the difference is that he plays at a very scarce position.

To me, 5th draft position is the easiest 1st round choice...Tejada comes right after the "Big 4." ;-D

Not sure if it's consensus but I would take Tejada over Manny also. ;-D

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

i say you can't go wrong either way.

bottom line is manny will get you slightly better stats, but shortstop is a more scarce position.

personally i take tejada. runs, rbi and steals are a wash. manny will get you a better average and more jacks. i agree that tejada is a clear #5.

Manny... .276 is not an acceptable batting average for a first round pick. Based on hindsight, of course, Tejada would have been the better pick last season

Tejada. Close numbers, scarcer position.

i agree Id take tejada over manny, for all the reasons above, but in a 5x5 id take abreu before either of them:

arod
pujols
vald
beltran
abreu
tejada
helton
manny

pretty much thats my order that ive been using

I'd probably take Manny myself, but it's really close.

real close,,,, if it is a 12 team or less i would take manny due to the fact that i can find a good SS for my team in 12 or less.... if it is more than 12 teamer than i grab tejada, as i am not as confident in the 14+ rated shortstops on my list..........
