Will Zito rebound this Year?

Im thinking of trading D. Wright for B. Zito. He did win the Cy Young, am I crazy for thinking hell rebound to another great year?

I have him as the 30th ranked SP, which is about 16 positions behind Rich Harden. I have Zito projected at 14W 3.89 ERA 1.32 WHIP 161Ks in 214 IPs. So its an improvement over 2004, but not as good as 2003. And surely not his CY Young years. His K/9 dropped for several years until last year where it came up a little

I have David Wright at .288 84R 25 HR 83 RBI and 13 SB. In my opinion Wright is worth about $6 more than Zito. Without knowing your team and your needs I would not do it personally

He'll never get back to his Cy Young years in my opinion, but he can't be as bad as he was last year. An ERA in the mid 3's to 4 sounds pretty reasonable...WHIP in the mid-1.2's. Bad lineup=not many wins.

Wright's batting sixth, but will give you five category production. I like him quite a bit more than Zito. Hopefully he moves up in the lineup soon enough, too.

I think that's a good trade for you, considering that Wright is young and unproven (even if he crushed the ball in the second half of last year, that is not enough of a sample size to judge a player by) and Zito has a lot of upside this season...

Because the A's probably won't be in a pennant chase, and with Harden's improved play, I think the pressure will be off Zito this year, and he can rebound to put up stats similar to '03.
