Vernon Wells or Carlos Lee?

Postby duckbillgates » Sun Mar 27, 2005 6:03 pm

Both are big, young bats on little teams.
I'm leaning Wells, if only because of the 30-30 target he set for himself. That's beyond optomistic, but the combination of his desire and his not having Delgado behind him would seem to indicate that he will run more this year.
Thoughts?

I like Wells barely for the simple reason that Lee's HR will go down going from the Cell to Miller Park.

I'd take Lee easily. He's coming off a great second half last year (322-20) and is absolutely killing the ball so far in spring training. Expect a nice line like 300-30-100-100-10 but most likely even better. The way he was hitting in the second half last year and now in ST, the upside is 325-40-120-110-10. Wow. Gotta love that upside!

I give Lee the edge considering he's coming off of two straight monster seasons.

I'd take Lee, but I think Wells is going to bounce back nicely. I have both, plus Berkman and Jose Guillen in one of my leagues (my least competitive, decided to give Yahoo Winners a try, the players are decent but not great)
