I have joined a 11 team dynasty league and we have having our inaugural draft tomorrow night. I have the 10th pick and an seriously considering taking Beltre ... and Jeter on the way back.
Do NOT take Beltre with the 10th Pick. He's a great player, but no one is taking him with their first pick, so you can easily get him going around. Jeter is also a reeeally bad pick there.
My suggestion is try to get Helton/Manny/Santana/RJ, whoever's left with your first pick, and then grab either Beltre or Schmidt on the way back. If Soriano is the best hitter available, then I'd go with Miguel Cabrera and either Beltre or Prior. It depends on your preference to take hitters or pitchers with your 2nd Rounder... I'd probably take M-Cab, and Prior, then try to trade up to get Beltre, and then Dunn. Just my $0.02
In a very competitive league, Beltre slipped to me in the 5th Round ..... I was shocked, to say the least. If he puts up anything close to last year, I'll be stoked.

Why wouldn't you draft him in the 4th if he was still there...or the third?

Beltre is the 5th or 6th best 3B this year by my projections. Dodger stadium does not significantly reduce HR's, Seattle does in a big way. Also I am leery of one year wonders, if you honestly don't see how a player could put up those numbers and 'fall' the next year, look up brady anderson.

If you think Adrain Beltre is the next Brady Anderson you defiantly fit your name
