i play in a competitive 13 team NL only league..looking back on the last 5 years, i have found that the 1st and 2nd place teams "wasted" an average of $40-50 on a $260 budget..by wasted i mean a player so underperforms or is traded to the AL or is lost to injury..of course the auction is just one part of the puzzle..in season trading and the waiver wire are important elements

The results of the auctions should be interesting. Another site I visit all the time has three of the Mods in Tout Wars. Jason Grey, Rob Leibowitz, and Todd Zola. Grey won in back-to-back years (2002 and 2003) by spending all of his money on hitting and about $20-30 on pitching. Just a little note to the people saying that the 69/31 split favours hitters too much.

No one bid Rounce up to $50 on Pineiro...he had one roster spot left to fill and at least $50 to spend, so he opened the bidding as high as he could...just an alternative to leaving cash in hand

I really dont see how this is any better than leaving money on the table. Is it a hard cap, or just a draft imposed cap? I would guess draft imposed, because it was a hard cap and he could use the extra money to pick up more expensive players, it would be utter stupidity to pay $50 for Piniero.
