I am doing my first Auction draft tomorrow. We have 260$ to spend with a roster size of 9 hitters and 9 pitchers. I have seen a lot of talk of lopsided spending on offense...190/70 split...is this due to most leagues having 12-14 hitters and as such wouldnt apply here because the pitcher/hitter sides are both 9 slots? Or is there some other reason I am missing?
Also, any auction pointers would be welcome...thanks!!!

It is due in part to the offensive roster size usually being larger. It is also due to the fact that many owners like to spend on offense as it is usually considered more reliable than pitching. You can run the numbers for your league through the Rototimes site and see what comes out under various hitting/pitching splits.
