Start Pineiro?

Postby Guest » Wed May 07, 2003 4:08 pm

Should I start him tonight versus Mussina? He did lose the last time, but he has pitched well and I'm sort of desperate for more wins.

I'd say the likelihood of him winning is fairly slim, giving how hot Mussina is right now. There is also a high likelihood of the Yankees tatooing him, so I would play it safe and bench him.

Someone replied to my question of whether I should start Moyer or Pettite yesterday that I should start Pettite...good thing I didn't listen. Moyer got the W and the M's put up 12 runs. I'd say anything's possible and Pinerio has looked good lately...but what can I say I'm a diehard M's fan.

If it was simply Piniero vs. Mussina I'd start him, but it's not. It's Pinero vs. the yankee's offense. I wouldn't put him against that monster. It's the best lineup money can buy. Seattle can win, but is it worth the hit on era and whip. See Halladay yesterday 7 in. 5 er, but got the win vs. Rangers.

seems like some of you have forgotten that last week this same thing happened and piniero gave up no runs in his first 5 innings...then gave up 2 er in his last 2 innings.....a very solid showing. and the M's are hot right now and handling the yankees....id give him the nod.

Not to mention Meche shut their asses down last week in Yankee stadium. I wouldn't be afraid to start Pineiro, just because he may lose 2-1 doesn't mean he won't give you some K's and a low ERA and WHIP.

exactly...if he loses..who cares unless your league counts losses. and he might win, so man up and start him.
