Mostly 1st and 2nd round but all my drafts happened before he decided to sit out.
And I paid $33 for him in the one auction I'm in.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
I picked him today in Round 14. I was debating between him and Kevin Mench who went two picks later. With an OF of Sheffield, Dunn, Wells, DRoberts and Finley, I figured that I would take chance on him. Sort of regretting not taking Mench. I jsut figured that would be able to get him in the next round. Oh well.
6th round in an 8 team league (5x5 H2H), 45th overall. This was before his "I may not play this season" tantrum.
Bonds will go on the DL on Yahoo shortly after he's placed on his actual team DL. They don't have to set their rosters until April I think, so there aren't many players on the DL yet.
Our draft started a few weeks ago and since OBP and SLG are hitting categories, Bonds was the #1 overall choice. In this league, he's been the best player by a large margin for the last few years. Luckily, it wasn't me who drafted him. I feel bad for the guy who did. He based a lot of his draft around having Bonds' huge OBP and SLG numbers to balance out some other players.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
